From the moment I slipped on the Ignite Women’s trail runners by Scarpa, my feet sighed in relief—no tension points and a very comfortable fit. Training for a long-distance mountain run, I’ve been running through shoes at an expensive rate and wanted something more durable on exposed rock and trail that didn’t feel bulky on the road. The Ignite matched these requirements perfectly. They’re lightweight and breathable, but the most valuable feature is the Speed Trail rubber sole that allows for impressive traction in rough conditions. And my feet don’t hurt after a long high-altitude run or on the concrete, because these babies are injected for shock-absorption. Biggest drawbacks: they only come in blue. Available at Grizzly Outfiiters. $125, scarpa.com
