I was planning a multi-day long-distance hike and needed something to protect my feet as much as possible. The rugged outsoles on Oboz’s Luna Low hiking shoes drew me in. I took a gamble and set off without breaking these guys in, but never noticed any shoe-induced discomfort. The toe box is roomy, which is good as my feet swelled after weeks on the trail. The nylon-mesh linings wick moisture, dry quickly, and let my stinky paws breathe. Each step feels solid over any terrain, the midsoles have excellent cushioning, and the low-rise style means my ankles aren’t constricted. Bonus: Oboz is based in Bozeman. What more could you ask for? $125; obozfootwear.com.
