One of the most innovative designs to make its way into the market in years, the Rossignol S7 uses a combination of rocker, camber, sidecut, and tip shape to bring us the best of all worlds. Underfoot, the S7 has a traditional camber allowing it to perform well on hard snow; but near the tip and tail it takes on a more progressive rocker to allow for better floatation in fresh snow. The ski also has a combination of traditional and progressive reverse sidecut that allow it turn well in all conditions. After using these skis I can say that they reacted extremely well in new snow conditions and made skiing almost effortless. They tell me that these work well on hardpack also, but I will just have to take their word for it having only used them in powder. Deep, deep, blower powder. Available at Round House and Chalet Sports. $950; rossignol.com.
