England, Mike

Last year, Scarpa joined the eco-friendly party with their specially designed T2 Eco tele boot. The key distinction is in the shell—it’s built with Pebax Rnew plastic, which is made from castor plant oil rather than petroleum. I expected to notice the difference, as one can with most environmentally friendly materials; but the Eco performed just as well as Scarpa’s standard, classic T2. Other standard features include a comfy, supportive, high-performance Intuition liner, which uses the tongue style (as opposed to the wrap style) for easier entry and better flex while touring. I had mine molded at Northern Lights and the thing fits like a glove—no sliding around while skinning, carving, or bombing down a powder run. So whether you like to be green, or just want your boots to match your green coat, the T2 Eco is a solid choice. Available at Northern Lights, Barrel, Grizzly Outfitters, and Timber Trails. $600; scarpa.com.
