I’ve been in search of comfortable hiking boots half my life. With my extra-wide feet (often referred to as “flippers”), it’s hard to find a boot that fits well and provides decent support and stability. I found that the Lowa Lady GTX is a great boot for a short day-hike or an extended trip in the backcountry. Pretty comfortable right out of the box, these boots are available in wide width, are lightweight, and offer plenty of ankle support. The Vibram outsole provides grip on rough terrain, and the Gore-Tex waterproof lining helps keep your feet dry when crossing small creeks. Handcrafted in Germany, these boots are durable and seem to handle almost any terrain. The Lady GTX is a great boot and is worth every penny. $250; lowaboots.com.
