The Bozeman Recreation Department helps facilitate a strong, vital and involved Bozeman community through parks, programs, and people and the opportunities available encompass all age groups, ability levels, and interests.

Children as young as age two can reap the benefits of socialization, self-reliance, and confidence through 45-minute classes that encourage movement, creativity, and fun in a nurturing environment. Class titles include Around the World, Exploring the Senses, Hawaiian Dance, Nature Discovery, yoga, soccer, and many more; they're only $10 for city residents and $12.50 for nonresidents.

Classes for youth ages 5-12 are offered all summer long in three-hour sessions from 9 am-noon and 1-4 pm. Programs involve cooperative games, hikes, crafts, and adventures that build memories that last a lifetime. Class titles include Drama, Outdoor Adventure, Backpacking Skills, Discover Bozeman, Home Alone, Babysitting, Toy and Game Designers, Tennis Skills, and many more.

The Bozeman Recreation Department also offers a variety of leadership opportunities to children ages 12 and up. A job-preparation class, backpacking trips, and a junior leadership program that engages youth in volunteer opportunities within our department are just a few options.

The Bozeman Recreation Department, the Noon Optimist Club, and the Gallatin Forest Service also launched a new Outdoor Adventure Club for 7th and 8th graders. This free program is offered in two sessions, meeting on Friday mornings from 8 am-Noon during June and July. Rock climbing, fly fishing, kayaking, and hiking will all be a part of the experience. Space is limited and preregistration is required by calling 582-2910.

Jamie Saitta is a Recreation Program Manager for the Bozeman Parks & Recreation Department. For information on any of the Bozeman Recreation Department programs call 582-2910 or visit us on the web at bozeman.net.
