Longing for Home

After graduating high school in 2002, I left Bozeman to go to California for college… I know, terrible choice. After a few years there I had to get out, so in 2007 I joined the Air Force and was sent to Okinawa, Japan for three years. Now my wife, daughter, and I are back in the states, down in New Mexico at Holloman Air Force Base. I miss Bozeman so much—nowhere else in the world compares, and I know, I’ve seen a lot of exotic places. I haven’t been back to Bozeman since I left, but I can’t wait until the day comes that I can take my family back to where I grew up. My mom sends me her old O/B issues every once and a while and I love the reminders of home. Right now I am deployed somewhere hot and dry and she sent me a winter issue… cruel right? I just wanted you all to know that I love your magazine and really look forward to reading it from time to time. Thanks for representing Bozeman! –Staff Sergeant Quinn Dover

Native Respect

My name is Scott Reed and I’m writing in about the "Mighty Whitey" article in the last issue of Outside Bozeman (Fall 2012, p. 34). This was taken from a Tom Reed book called Blue Lines. Thank you for publishing this piece. I truly hope it’s an eye opener for all the trout anglers out there who cringe at the thought of catching a whitefish. It’s a beautiful fish that deserves the same respect we show brooks, browns, cutts, and rainbows. –Scott Reed
