Review: Mountain Equipment Ibex Pant

When I’m out in the mountains, two of the most important things are freedom of movement and staying dry. Mountain Equipment’s Ibex Pant offers both. Constructed with proprietary Exolite fabric, these softshell pants have great stretch and are built to take a beating. Rain rolls right off, and the soft, breathable inner liner keeps you cool for maximum dryness inside and out. Plus, the built-in waist-belt gives a great fit and holds tight. These pants are also lightweight enough to toss in your pack on warm days, just in case the weather turns.

All in all, the Ibex is among the most comfortable mountain pants I’ve worn. The only drawback is the lack of belt loops, so if you like to carry a knife or bear spray on your belt, you’ll have to find another method for keeping these items within reach.

Available at Round House and Chalet Sports. $105; mountain-equipment.co.uk.
