On Waking up to Realize You're Living the Dream

Sometimes, when the fishing is especially good
we stop the moment, the boat in the current.
Stop casting,
and start smiling.
We say to each other,
damn, it's like we're in Montana or something.
Like this is the Yellowstone River
and those are the Absaroka Mountains
and we are in Paradise Valley
or some other rare and beautiful place
a bum from the Midwest should never expect
to find oneself.
And all of this is funny only because, well,
we are in Montana,
and this is the Yellowstone River
and sure as shit, this is Paradise Valley,
and sometimes, here, how it should be is actually how it is.
