Review: Old Town Predator MX Fishing Kayak

As a kayak-fisherman, I need a vessel that’s just as capable on lakes as it is in rivers. To my delight, I found the Predator MX from Old Town Canoe & Kayak, engineered from bow to stern to be the ultimate mixed-water fishing platform. The MX’s multi-position Element seating system is tops in the industry and can be positioned low for paddling, higher for fishing, or folded up and out of the way. Standing up to cast is easy with the convenient stand-up assist strap, and the tri-hull design provides confidence-inspiring balance and outstanding stability, even in rough water. There’s also ample waterproof storage in both the bow and stern. Other noteworthy features include rod-tip protectors, rod-retainer bungees, a side-mount paddle clip, dual tackle holders, molded handles and a molded-in paddle rest. Available at Northern Lights. $1,350; oldtowncanoe.com
