Review: Jetboil Flash

This might just be my new favorite piece of gear. With a burner and cooking vessel combined into one compact design, the Jetboil Flash is easy to use and store, enabling me to break for a meal and then throw it back in my pack, continuing on to the next adventure. The Flash is up and running with one click, and within minutes you can have boiling water ready for anything on the menu: coffee and tea to soup and pasta. This unit is designed for safe use, with its locking interface between burner and cooking cup, as well as a canister tripod to keep it upright. It also includes an insulated cozy with a color-changing heat indicator, letting you know when the contents are hot. Dorky or innovative? I’m still not sure. Available at Northern Lights, Round House, Bob Wards, and Barrel Mountaineering. $99; jetboil.com.
