Breaking out the Stretch Cohesion pants for the first time, I was immediately confused—why do the zippers go only ¾ of the way up? Then I hoisted my pack over them—the zippers stay out from under your hip belt, making them comfortable even on long, rainy days. The conduit DT laminate brings the weight down to just 9 oz, makes them super compressible, and gives them great four-way stretch. They kept the wind and snow out but breathed well enough not to become leg saunas. Durability may be a concern if you're pushing these into four seasons, but keep in mind they’re built to be light and packable for all rainy days—not so much for the beater Bridger pant. Available at Chalet Sports & Silvertip Mountain Center. $125; mountainhardwear.com.
