Guesswork-Free Camping

Camping in Montana just got a little easier, if somewhat less spontaneous. This year, campers can reserve their spots in any of 20 Montana state parks via a new reservation system, which includes both online and telephone options. Campsite selection information, photos, campground maps, travel directions, and site descriptions are available on the website; a $10 processing fee is charged for each reservation. Although nearly half of Montana’s 54 state parks participate in the new system, not all campsites will be available for reservation—the remaining sites will still accommodate “walk-in” campers on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations can be made through September 5. Call 855-922-6768 or visit campmt.com.
