Rules

  • All entries submitted must be original, must not have been previously published, released, or distributed in any local publication or website, and must have been created and be owned exclusively by the entrant submitting the image. If in doubt, ask us if an image is acceptable.

  • Professionals (those who regularly charge a price for the work they have created or helped to create) are required to submit entries as such and may not enter under any other classification.

  • Photos must be submitted to Outside Bozeman by mail or email no later than April 30th, 2010. Digital files must be at least 5x7 inches at 300ppi (the bigger the better, however) and should be emailed in JPG format (RGB color profile preferred) to photos@outsidebozeman.com. Drop off disks/slides to 313 W. Mendenhall, #8 (upstairs) or mail disks/slides to P.O. Box 1101, Bozeman, 59715

  • Please limit submissions to no more than 10 files or slides.

  • Photoshop "art" is allowed only in the Altered/Manipulated category. For other categories, sharpening, adjusting levels, sepia tone, etc. is fine, but do not superimpose images or otherwise alter the original scene.

  • Photos must be taken in the southwest Montana area (this includes Yellowstone Park, West Yellowstone, etc.) and should include information about location/subject/etc. Do not submit images taken around Missoula, Whitefish, Billings, etc.

  • Prizes will be awarded to the top three contestants in each division.

  • Grand prizes awarded to the top two contestants overall.

  • Top photographs in each division and category will be showcased in the Summer or Fall 2010 issue of Outside Bozeman and on WildWestPhotos.com.

  • All entrants will be invited to attend an awards ceremony with free food, drinks, music, and a slideshow of the top entries.

2008 RESULTS
Selected winning photographs were published in the Summer 2008 issue. All winning photographs are also available on our Facebook page. See below for a full list of winners. The awards ceremony and party took place Wednesday, August 6th, at the Lindley Center in Bozeman and was a lot of fun. John Parker, overall amateur winner, scored a $3,000 camera setup from F-11 Photography. The chili- and chowder-stuffed crowd chose Jeremy Kessler as the overall professional winner; he took home $500 in cash from Wild West Photos. And the bountiful prize table doled out the goods to dozens more folks -- just about everybody left with some kind of booty. The evening's festivities, and the contest itself, was made possible by all our generous sponsors (see list at bottom of page), so thank them if you get a chance. We'll see you next year!
