The outdoors is big business in Bozeman. Here's the latest on what some of those businesses and business owners are up to.

Testing the Waters
This past winter, Montana Whitewater bought the Yellowstone Raft Company, merging the two extreme-sports powerhouses together. Twice the action under one raft.

The Big Ten
Kelli Sanders and Melissa Alder, owners of Freeheel and Wheel, celebrated their 10th anniversary this summer.

The Man in the Moonlight
Moonlight Basin recently hired Marc Glines as its first ever conservation, education, and security officer. Glines, an Ennis native, is a veteran game warden with Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks as well as a former ranger for Yellowstone National Parks. Moonlight hired this outdoor expert to help promote environmental consciousness among the public in an increasingly growing district.

Clean Business
Dick Walter Motors has become Montana Import Group, and the new owners have made an explicit commitment to help sustain the beauty of southwest Montana and our healthy outdoor lifestyle by offering a better selection of low-emissions, highly fuel-efficient vehicles. Subaru, Volkswagon, and Hyundai all continue to make significant advances in eco-emissions and fuel efficiency.

Grand Prize
This summer, the Greater Yellowstone Coalition awarded Barrel Mountaineering co-owners Chris and Laura Naumann the Outstanding Member Business accolade. “Being active in the community and advocating environmental causes has always been important to Barrel," Chris says. Kudos to Chris and Laura—keep up the good work!

Close-to-Home Cooking
Cateye Café, Community Food Co-op, The Garage, John Bozeman’s Bistro, La Parilla, Montana Ale Works, Naked Noodle, Nova Café, 2nd Street Bistro, Starky’s, Desert Rose Catering, and Yellowstone Pizza are some of the local restaurants participating in the Montana Farm to Restaurant campaign, coordinated by the Corporation for the Northern Rockies and the Gallatin Valley Independent Business Alliance. The program promotes and supports local, sustainable Montana producers and encourages the consumption of nutritious and healthy foods.

Dog Salon
You know it's time to wash your pup when even you don't want to pet him. The Puppy Tub, a self- and full-service dog washing and grooming facility, just opened its doors on West Griffin.
