Here’s a cheap alternative to paying $2.20 a gallon for gas and a chance to avoid in-town traffic all in one go. Get an efficient, sustainably powered, stylin’ sweet ride—also known as a bike. Every year the Gallatin Valley Bike Club organizes the Bozeman Bike Swap, keeping Bozemanites riding on fresh wheels. This year it will be held on April 15 at the Gallatin Valley Fair Grounds, building #2. To sell your bike, show up on the consignment day (date TBA), name your price, and wait and see what happens on the day of the swap. The Bike Club gets 15% of the sales to fund its programs and races. You can sell your bike or buy a super new road bike, mountain bike, cruiser, kids’ bike, or beater for a fraction of what you would pay at a store. The swap is modeled after Bozeman’s annual ski swap, and for the last 20 years it has sought to get more people riding bikes in Bozeman’s awesome and challenging terrain.
