In the Gallatin Range lies a constellation of lakes, and all of their secrets, which can be found by you. Bring a fishing rod. Five of the lakes contain golden or rainbow trout (or both), and all enjoy the high-mountain air of a trail that begins above 8,000 feet. The trail is six miles roundtrip through forests and meadows, crossing streams and gaining 1,000 feet of elevation to the upper and largest hidden lake.

Directions: From Bozeman, take Hwy. 191 south through Gallatin Canyon. Take a left at Portal Creek Rd., between mile markers 54 and 53, and drive about four miles up the drainage until you reach a fork in the road. Veer right and continue roughly two miles to the Hidden Lakes trailhead at the end of the road.

Their name is appropriate: twice I've gotten lost trying to find these lakes. Nonetheless, once you find them, they're beautiful. Also, the area is so lush and I usually see very few people along the trail.

What's your take?

So, what do you REALLY think?
