Since getting the Mountain Hardwear Power Stretch Jacket in the mail, I haven’t taken it off. It has the comfort of my favorite hoodie, and it has a soft outer shell and a fleece, brushed inner layer that keeps me cozy. The advanced "surface-fusion polymer" for wind and water resistance is good for the Montana climate, and it holds up in the washing machine. I also like the thumb loops, which make for any easy on and off when wearing it as a base layer. The balaclava hood is a good defense in harsh weather, and the two zip pockets help ensure that your valuables don’t fall into the snow. $150; mountainhardwear.com.
