These shoes stuck to everything but ice. The outside construction, a blend of saffron-colored leather and high-tech molded rubber, is a fierce and sturdy tool for attacking trails, while the inside cradled my feet like swaddling clothes on a newborn. After a day hike over packed trail, some scree, and a bit of scrambling, I’d almost take these bouldering—and I’d definitely take them out to dinner. They’re hot. Plus Oboz is a local company that’s committed to environmental happiness, and the bottom of the trad is a topographical map of the Tetons. Extras like these shouldn’t make you buy gear, but they do make you feel as supportive and cozy as your feet will be. They do seem to run just a bit large, though, so make sure you get the right size. Oboz.com; $89.
