Early Winter Newsletter (Again? So soon?)
|
Well, it's about that time again. The O/B newsletter is back, better than ever.
Our previous newsletter schedule may have seemed somewhat random, but now that we've converted to the metric calendar,
you can expect a prompt newsletter every 2.75 kilo-months. Truth be told, our erstwhile inconsistency can be chalked up to a combination of sloth
and undiagnosed ADD — and nothing's changed there. (Have YOU ever tried to write HTML code? It's not
easy. Look, a squirrel!) So don't fret; our next newsletter, expertly pieced together like a winter coat
made of carpet samples, should be ready somewhere around the Mayan-predicted apocalypse.
Winter Issue on the Shelves
Snow on the ground and short, cold days can only mean one thing: the winter issue is here! Jam-packed with
great articles, beautiful photography, and sage outdoor wisdom, Outside Bozeman proudly presents its
best issue ever. (Okay, we say that every three months... but we really mean it this time.)

This issue features a profile of local climbing legend
Conrad Anker, a gym rundown, fun sledding locales, and more.
Not to mention our favorite: a list of top
thermos drinks. If you're looking for the best way to stay warm (and drunk) this season,
turn to page 40 and find recipes for Hot Apple Pie Shots, Barn Burner, and Burning Demon Piss. Drink #11 and our racy parting
shot (deemed too hot for the Internet) can only be found in the print edition, so venture out into Bozeman's winter wonderland and scoop
up the new issue.
2010 Outside Bozeman Calendar
It's not too late to pick up our 2010 Wall Calendar.
We've painstakingly compiled every event you'll want to attend in 2010 and
coupled that with 12 of the best photographs from the Outside Bozeman Photo Contest, creating the
top must-have item of the current millenium. And with calendar proceeds
donated to Eagle Mount, you get a
complementary "warm fuzzy feeling" along with your stunning pictures and useful information.
Our Latest Dalliance Into the Digital Medium
If you're looking for a new way to procrastinate at school or the office, check out our
Facebook page.
Updating you on the latest Bozeman news, events, and random outdoor info, the page also links to the
artistically crafted — albeit spottily updated —
O/B Blog, featuring great articles on local outdoor adventures. Every so often, our Grand
Poobah Editor comes down from his ivory tower, unlocks the O/B Treasure Chest, and quizzes our Facebook fans
with magazine trivia for a chance to win goodies. The last correct answer landed one lucky gal two
free passes to Norris Hot Springs and
$10 in Buddha Bucks... not a bad score for five seconds' work.
Outside Bozeman / Sola Cafe Art Show
You may have missed your chance to mingle with Bozeman's upper crust, enjoying wine and
cheese at the opening reception, but you still have plenty of time to cruise down to
Sola Cafe and check out some amazing
photography by
talented local photographers. Featuring winning entries from the O/B Photo Contest,
the show offers prints for sale in a variety of sizes and mounting options. Order photos
online (which is not nearly as cool as real life)
here.
And remember to keep your cameras handy — the deadline for this year's contest is April 30th.
We are constantly striving to make Outside Bozeman — both our print issue and
the website — even better.
We welcome suggestions for improvement, though we reserve the right to ignore them completely.
If you have feedback
or ideas, please send them to info@outsidebozeman.com.
And as always... see you outside!

Slushman's Lift
Long sequestered by the rigors of skinning and bootpacking, some of Bridger's best
slopes are now home to a convenient chairlift. But is Slushman's getting the respect it deserves?
Local ski photographer Travis Andersen explains how all the hype necessitates a new
responsibility for skiers.
EVENTS & CONTESTS
The Banff Mountain Film Festival
rolls into town January 22-23 at the Willson Auditorium, featuring amazing outdoor footage from all
across the globe;
tickets are cheap, so come check out the action.
For all you wintertime Michaelangelos out there, we present the Best Snowman Contest . Build your
finest, take a pic, and send it to photos@outsidebozeman.com. The top Frosty will be featured
in the spring issue,
and the winner will receive... something really cool! (Haven't figured it out yet, but it'll be great.
Promise.)
Love cross-country skiing, but need a sweet new locale? Enter the West Yellowstone Weekend Getaway and win an amazing ski vacation
worth $700.
Suby Tales is back, with loads of prizes to honor Bozeman's
favorite all-wheel-drive auto.
Write down your account, take a few pictures, and send it to
editor@outsidebozeman.com. Categories range from funniest story to
wackiest tale, so hop in your Suby, have an adventure, and tell us all about it here.
Remember, Outside Bozeman ponies up a lot of time and cash for these
contests, so be sure to take part. It's wasted money
otherwise, which we could have spent on beer, new gear, and paying an
intern to answer the phone while we're skiing.
