The O/B Newsletter Lives! (against all odds)
|
Hello Outside Bozeman Reader!
Well, it's about that time again. Time for the semi-tri-quarterly, lunar annual Outside Bozeman newsletter.
Yes, we know, two newsletters in as many years is probably overkill — but we want you to be at the very forefront of Outside Bozeman
news and events! Truth be told, we stink at this. How can we justify hours (okay, minutes) in front of the computer when there's
so much to do outside? It's a problem. So, worry not; we won't bother you again until at least the Year of the Rat.
Take Us Home: The Cheapest (and easiest) Date in Town
SFM (Stupendous FREE Magazine) seeks OLR (Outdoor-Loving Reader) for fun and adventure in a long-term yet casual relationship. Reader must enjoy the
outdoors, be literate (or fake it well), and have a sense of humor. Available now in racks and on countertops throughout SW Montana.
Pick one up at the coffee shop on your way to work, grab one as you head into your favorite restaurant, or snag a copy for the kitchen table
after raiding the grocery store for your secret training mix of pickles, soy milk, and Skittles. If you don't ever get out
(or if you're an especially kind and generous soul), we will happily mail the newest issues of Outside Bozeman anywhere you'd like for $15 a year
(a pittance, really), so you can continue your pathetic couch-bound existence unhindered. Did we just write that? Oops.
Anyway, if you're more electronically oriented, go to the
Magazine page of our website and read the articles for free. Be warned: No print copy means no cool pictures,
maps, illustrations, or those all-important ads that keep the magazine afloat. Not to mention that uploading articles means more inside time, so no
guarantees that they'll be there before the next viewing of Halley's Comet.
How Far Will You Go?
With photos from the Arctic Circle to the Great Wall of China, it's been getting more and more difficult to judge the How Far Will You Go
contest these days. Faithful readers have carried Outside Bozeman all over the planet (sometimes twice), making it one of the most widely read publications in history,
right after the Bible and Paris Hilton's autobiography.
This issue's winning shot was submitted by Trevor Olson, taken in Sangkhla Buri, Thailand. Trevor wins a free trip to Jackson Hot Springs in the Big Hole Valley.
Thanks to everyone for entering. Be sure to pack O/B along on your own long-range forays, and take some cool photos — you could be our next winner!
Suby Tales
Give us your best, your worst, your most deranged or disgusting — as long as it involves a trusty Subaru, we wanna hear about it.
Whether it was an epic near-miss or just a fantastic day, tell us how your Suby made the difference.
We recieved a ton of great stories last year, and if your Subaru is anything like the Outside Bozeman delivery tank
(yup, Juan the White Wagon yet lives), this year should see another great round of tales. Expect a host of cool prizes for all the winners,
including outdoor gear, restaurant gift certificates, and free Subaru service from Montana Import Group.
Check out the Suby Tales page on the Outside Bozeman website for contest details,
and read all the tales from the last contest here.
We are constantly striving to make Outside Bozeman — both our print issue and the website — even better.
We welcome suggestions for improvement, though we reserve the right to ignore them completely. If you have feedback
or ideas, please send them to info@outsidebozeman.com.
And as always... see you outside!

Spring Fishing Fervor
When the snow melts and the sun comes out over southwest Montana, few things get the blood pumping like a trip to the river in search of hungry trout.
World-renowned fly fisherman George Anderson of Yellowstone Angler offers up some tips and tricks for catching spring lunkers, as well as sharing a few of the best spring
fishing holes around the area. View the full story (minus the awesome photos and map, of course)
here.
LAST ISSUE HIGHLIGHT
If spring fever has you by the throat, there's more to do than fish. Check out our
Spring 2006 issue online to read
about an alternative means of touring Yellowstone, well before the crushing crowds of summer.
Spring Biking in Yellowstone gives you the information you need to get on the road for an out-of-the-ordinary Yellowstone
experience.
O/B-SPONSORED EVENTS
The Bozeman Film Festival offers
excellent evening entertainment after a long day outside, and is a great way to support quality independent films.
For all you pain-mongers out there, check out the Treasure State Triathalon Off-Road Edition, taking place at Hyalite Reservoir
on June 24, 2007. Individuals or teams can register at the link above, or call 587-1135 for more information.
Remember, Outside Bozeman helps support these and other great community events, so come out and take part.
It's wasted money otherwise, which we could have spent on beer, flies, and paying an intern to answer the phone while we're fishing.
