O/B Newsletter!

Hello Outside Bozeman Subscriber!
You probably subscribed to this newsletter a long time ago, and are wondering why in the blue blazes you've never
received anything even remotely resembling a newsletter. Well, the answer is: We are total slackers.
Not Necessarily a Sign of Change
This newsletter may be the first of many regular correspondences advising you of new and interesting things happening at Outside Bozeman,
just like the website promises. Or, it may be a complete anomaly and the only email you ever receive from us. The one thing we can say is this:
If you send us money, the chances of you receiving future newsletters increase dramatically.
Winter Issue on the Shelves
The Winter 2003-04 issue has been on the shelves since Dec. 15th.

If you live in SW Montana, look for it at coffee shops, grocery stores, gas
stations, motels, and outdoor shops. If you don't live around here, buy a subscription! We'll mail you every issue for $20 per year. Yeah, it seems
pretty spendy compared to other magazines, but think of it like this: For the price of a few movie tickets, you can get the coolest
magazine ever delivered right to your door. If you're still too cheap to buy a subscription, get a friend who lives here to mail you a copy.
Or, go to the Magazine page of our website and read the
articles for free — but remember, you won't get any of the cool pictures, maps, or illustrations that help make O/B the greatest thing since pony kegs.
Customized Topo Maps
Outside Bozeman has teamed up with mytopo.com to offer customized topographical
maps of the Montana area. Center the map where you want it, then select a size (18"x24" / 24"x36" / 36"x44"), scale
(1:15,000 / 1:24,000 / 1:25,000 / 1:30,000), type (waterproof or glossy), and orientation (portrait or landscape). Enter your credit card number
and the map will arrive in a few days. They're cheap, too: $10 for the 18"x24" size. You can even put your own customized name and
description on the front of the map. Aerial photographs are available for all map areas as well.
We are constantly striving to make Outside Bozeman — both our print issue and the website — even better. We welcome suggestions for
improvement, though we reserve the right to ignore them completely. If you have feedback or ideas, please send them to info@outsidebozeman.com.
And as always.... get outside!

AVALANCHE EDUCATION
The Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center is holding a basic avalanche education
workshop at the end of January. Classroom session is Jan. 28-29 at the MSU SUB; the field session takes place on the 31st at Bridger Bowl.
This is a great course for anybody who goes into the backcountry, not just skiers and snowboarders. Check out their website for details.

PRIOR ISSUE HIGHLIGHT
The winter issue may be on the shelves, but the fall issue is not forgotten. Check out Jeff Hostetler's great article about the
Milesnick Ranch, located just outside Belgrade.

O/B-SPONSORED EVENTS
The 23rd Annual Pinhead Classic telemark race takes place at Bridger Bowl on March 20th. Theme: Medieval Kneivel. Get dressed up in your
best (or worst, or goofiest) costume, and then point 'em downhill, running gates and launching jumps with as much style as you can muster.
