I just moved to town last month and am wondering if there are any local hiking clubs or ways to find hiking partners/groups in the Bozeman area. I am an avid hiker but tentative about going solo in bear country. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Try the BWAGs (Bozeman Women's Activity Group). Stop by any of the outdoor shops (Northern Lights, Barrel Mountaineering, Summit Bike & Ski, Chalet Sports, Round House, etc.) and they'll steer you in the right direction. Or pick up a back issue of Outside Bozeman, there was an article in a recent issue about the BWAGs. They have back issues at their office.

Did you have good luck with the ladies hiking club?

From my understanding in talking to a BWAGS member, it consists more of retired women and some mothers. As they meet for hikes during the week days, that does not match well with my schedule. Though I am not opposed to hiking with people from older generations, I was hoping to meet people closer in age (I'm 29). If people are interested in forming a hiking group, let me know. The temps are getting warmer and I'd be interested in company on the trails.

I would also be interested in finding people to hike with - and possibly to fish. Would like to explore some of the more challenging trails this summer.

I'd also be interested. I must admit I'm not in very good shape, but I am interested in changing that.
