Time to dig out the spandex and slop on sunscreen—southwest Montana has plenty of bike races lined up this summer. (Note: If you’re male and don’t plan on winning, or overweight in either gender, be nice and wear shorts over said spandex—the stuff was designed for firm lines, not bulging contours.) 

June 23

Natural Bridge Falls fun ride, Big Timber – Approximately 50 miles down Highway 298 from Big Timber to Natural Bridge State Park along the Boulder River. Meeting time and place TBA.

July 7-8

Tour de Bozeman – 40- to 70-mile segments, including a road race in Bridger Canyon, 15k time trial, and criterium around Beall Park. 

July 14

Blazing Saddles XI – Payden Memorial Foundation’s major fundraising event with 100 and 80-mile rides starting in Livingston, 65-mile ride starting in Bozeman Pass, 45-mile ride starting at Battle Ridge Pass, and 30-mile family fun ride from Wilsall to Livingston.

July 22           

Meandering Missouri, Three Forks – Ride along the bike path and Frontage Road from Three Forks to Logan. Follow the newly paved road to Clarkston, and take the same route back. Approximately 36 miles.

August 12

Tour de Chico, Paradise Valley – Carter’s Bridge to Chico, back to Carter’s Bridge. Approximately 40 miles with optional add-on routes. Lunch at Chico Grill.

August 25

Three Rivers Century – Ride by the Gallatin, Jefferson, and Madison Rivers while doing a full, metric, or one-third century.

September 15

Tour de Cure, Three Forks – This community-oriented, family-friendly event benefits the American Diabetes Association; distances of 12, 23, 56, and 100 miles.
